Tips from Jason’s Care Guide
Proper establishment is the difference between a palm that survives and one that thrives. Following this protocol ensures your investment stays "resort-quality" green.
I. Hydration & Root Establishment
- The Routine:Â Water daily for the first 30 days. Transition to 3 times a week for the next 60 days.
- The Morning Rule: Water only in the early morning. This allows the roots to hydrate before the midday heat.
- The Technique:Â Focus water at the base of the trunks.
II. Phased Nutrient Program
- The 8-Week Window: Water only. Allow the palm to settle before adding fertilizer.
- Step 1 (Week 8): I recommend Sunniland Palm Fertilizer (8-2-12).
- Step 2 (Week 12): Apply 1–2 lbs. of Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate). This prevents the lower fronds from turning yellow or "bronzing."
III. Pruning: The "Self-Cleaning" Standard
The   is naturally self-cleaning, meaning old fronds will drop on their own.
- The Rule: If you must trim, only remove fronds that turned brown. Please watch the YouTube’s video below on how to remove the Christmas Palm’s fronds.

How Fast Will It Grow?
- In our Florida climate, a *Mature Triple Trunk Christmas Palm (Adonidia
*merrillii) is a moderate grower. Here is what you can expect: - Average Growth: About 6 to 10 inches of trunk height per year.
With Proper Care: If you follow my morning watering and Epsom salt routine, these palms can grow up to 12 inches (1 foot) per year. - Jason’s Professional Tip: By choosing a Mature Field-Grown palm, you are getting the thick, grey-wooded trunks immediately—saving you at least 5 years of waiting compared to a smaller potted tree.
