Today, our team was out in the beautiful Beverly Hills community installing a gorgeous, healthy Queen Palm (Syagrus romanzoffiana). These palms are a staple of the Florida landscape, known for their fast growth and graceful, feathery fronds that sway beautifully in the breeze.
The Project Details
For this specific installation, we placed the palm in a spot featuring decorative white stone. While this creates a crisp, clean look for the property, it requires a little extra "know-how" to ensure the palm thrives. White rocks can reflect heat and affect soil pH, so we’ve provided our client with a specialized care plan to keep this Queen looking royal.

If you’ve recently added a Queen Palm to your yard, the first 90 days are the most important. Here is the secret to getting them established:
1. The "Deep Soak" Watering Rule
Forget the sprinklers! For the first two weeks, your new palm needs a daily deep soak. We recommend a slow trickle from a garden hose at the base for 15–20 minutes. This ensures water reaches the bottom of the root ball, not just the surface rocks. check out how to ensure if your soil have enought water
2. Mind the Rocks
White rocks can trap heat. If you have stone around your palm, check the moisture levels more frequently during our hot Florida afternoons. Keep the stones a few inches away from the trunk to allow the "root flare" to breathe.
3. Nutrients Matter
Queen Palms are "heavy feeders." They love Manganese and Magnesium.
- Wait 60 days before your first fertilizer application.
- Once established, use a high-quality 8-2-12 palm fertilizer three times a year.
- Pro Tip: A twice-yearly application of Epsom Salt can help prevent yellowing and keep those fronds a deep, vibrant green.
4. Pruning Patience
Resist the urge to trim! Only cut fronds that are brown. Green fronds (and even yellow ones) are still providing vital nutrients to the trunk as the tree gets settled.
